Recognitions: Special cases/regulations
Recognition ordinance
A recognition regulation is a standardised regulation for the recognition of defined courses of one degree programme for courses of another degree programme. Affected students receive binding information in advance about which recognition is possible. If there are options, the Student Service Centre must be contacted before applying the regulation.
Equivalency Ordinance
Particularly when curricula are revised, it can happen that studets are still enrolled in the old curriculum, but no more courses are offered for this old curriculum for resource reasons. In this case, an equivalence regulation makes sense.
Equivalency regulations can stipulate which courses under the new curriculum correspond to courses under the old curriculum so that students can replace any missing old courses and complete their degree programme in accordance with their curriculum.
Pre-recognition (stay abroad)
Prior recognition is only possible for stays abroad (e.g. as part of an ERASMUS semester). At the student's request, the SPL determines which of the planned examinations are equivalent to the examinations prescribed in the curriculum and issues a so-called notice of assessment.
After returning from the study abroad programme and submitting the foreign study documents, the student can then apply for final recognition of the study abroad programme, whereby the SPL is bound by the content of the assessment notice.
